Hello friends,

I wanted to remind you that my artwork will be exhibited at the InterUrban ArtHouse this Friday the 18th, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The exhibition is titled Bits and Pieces and it will run through November 11th. I will have three firework residue paintings on display for the duration of the exhibition.

My work will be featured in the November edition of KC Studio Magazine. They’re providing me with twenty-five free copies to give away, so let me know if you want one! I will have them available for distribution on November 1st.

In mid-November, two painting classes and a ceramics class from Olathe South High School will be taking field trips to visit my studio. I will be doing some firework art demonstrations and giving talks about the progression of my art career from the time that I was in their shoes, until now. I’ll attach images of the event in a future art update.

I’ve been working on a new series (pictures below) All the marks and colors were created using firework residue. For the time being, I’m referring to them as firework residue ‘drawings’ I’ve been considering common spiritual aspects that can be found in human culture through-out history and pondering ways in which my artwork can appeal to this ubiquitous spiritual nature that we all, seemingly, have an inherent desire for. This new process and new concept are both very much in the beginning stages but it’s what my studio practice looks like at the moment.
